Wedding Ceremony at French Park

I loved working with Jody because she never once asked me what she was “supposed” to do for her wedding. Jody knew what was important to and fun for her, Brian, their family and friends and just went with it! The result? An amazing party for a truly wonderful couple. Their wedding took place on a Thursday last month… the story goes that Jody let Brian choose the date, and he opened a calendar and threw a hand down… Thursday it was! They chose the beautiful French House at French Park in Cincinnati. and invited 50 of their closest family and friends. The sky was a bit iffy, but the weather held out just long enough for us that day. We had a pre-ceremony cocktail hour, so when I got word from the catering manager that a tornado warning was on the way, it was easy to push up the ceremony a bit earlier! It didn’t really start to rain until after dinner, so we lucked out. The ceremony was officiated by Kathryn Siefert.

For their reception, they recreated their first date by having Elegant Fare mimic the menu for their guests, and serving everything family-style. Rather than having a dancing reception (which just wasn’t “them”) they chose a Vegas theme and brought in Casino games for everyone to play. Even without “real money” involved, everyone had a blast. I even got a lesson in on how to play craps while the guests were eating dinner ;) Jody and Brian’s wedding cake (dice) was made by Patricia’s and had an Elvis cake topper to go along with their Vegas theme. The cake was served along with a variety of candy for the guests to take home.

From a decor standpoint, florist Katie Elfers was one of the first (if not the first!) vendor that Jody hired. Katie’s gorgeous flowers along with specialty linens from Chair Covers & Linens and Camargo Rental created a scene of rich oranges, wheat (the symbol of a bountiful future) and accents of green. Jody’s family played into the color scheme by all wearing shades of orange — her dad even hand-painted orange flowers on a little one’s shoes. Too cute!

Extra thanks to: Nancy of Brideface for making Jody, her mom, and Brian’s mom even more beautiful than they already are. Hannah for helping me make sure everything went smoothly. DJ Toad for both the ceremony and reception music. Michael from HPM for all of his help that night. And of COURSE, Tine Hoffman of TM Photography for all of the truly amazing photos.
