Ana and Jack’s Wedding at the Hilton Netherland Plaza | Cincinnati, Ohio

Pink and White Cincinnati Wedding

When Ana first contacted me, she was living in Michigan and her now-husband Jack had just moved to Cincinnati. Ana’s family lives in Moldova, Jack’s family lives in Texas, and since Ana would not be joining Jack in Cincinnati until about one month before the wedding, she had no doubts that she needed a wedding planner! The first time I met Ana in person, I picked her up at the airport and we spent the day together finding her dress, talking with her florist, Courtenay Lambert, and just getting to know each other! From then on, most things were planned via e-mail and phone, with a few short visits in between.

Ana had never been to an American wedding, so she wanted to make sure she did all of the American traditions.  It was such fun to explain to her things like saving your top layer of cake for your anniversary and having a bouquet toss. I learned about many Moldovan traditions as well, such as the fact that having flowers in an even number is bad luck! (That was one we were sure to relay to her florist). To make sure Ana had the American wedding of her dreams, we worked with her florist (Melissa at Courtenay Lambert Florals), invitation designer (Kristen at Poeme) and catering manager (Robyn at the Hilton) to come up with a beautiful, classic and traditional wedding.

Ana and Jack’s wedding ceremony was held at Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Clifton. I’ve driven past it many times, but had never been inside. It is such a charming and beautiful space! Perfect for small weddings. Pro Art Music provided the ceremony music, and the bridesmaid’s dresses are from J. Crew. Ana’s beautiful gown was designed by Anne Barge, and was the first she tried on at Bridal and Formal in Reading. The darling flower girl and ring bearer are Jack’s niece and nephew, and they are twins! They were seriously adorable.

Following the ceremony, Ana, Jack and their wedding party went around Clifton with their photographer (Tine of TM Photography) to get some fun shots around town and in the park. Then it was back to the Hilton Netherland Plaza for the reception. The cocktail hour was held in the Mezzanine, and the reception was held in the Continental Room. Ana had custom-designed menus from Poeme at each place setting (to match her beautiful invitations) along with a pearl napkin ring from All Occasions Event Rental.

The cake was from Bonbonerie; we combined two of their classic designs and added a monogram in icing to get the look that Ana wanted. Greg Lee performed at both the cocktail hour and the reception and had EVERYONE out on the dance floor! At one point in the evening, one of Jack’s groomsmen got behind the mic to perform a song for the bride and groom – it was, in a word, awesome.

I loved working with Ana and Jack – they are such a sweet couple! Their wedding was a great way to introduce their families and friends (who had traveled from far and wide!) to their new home city of Cincinnati.
